Interesting. Was updating my servers yesterday and it looks like when you update caddy, you gotta re-add/compile all the plugins you use! That shit sort of sucks! Broke stuff for a while! I also had some shitty config... I mean damn I got tech debt all over this #homelab! I aint about to clean it up tho!! 😂

Finally shipped my 3 lenovo 1l pc's out!!! #ebay is a bit of a mafia man.. Their fee's are out of control! Whatever, that means I get to start my mini pc rack thingy.. Problem now is.. I gotta get a 2.5 switch that will fit in a 10 inch rack.

I also sort of look at snmp data... Most of these small 2.5 gig switches don't have a management plane!

My #Artuaria #MicroLab #MIDI controller stayed in Russia so I could leave lightly. Trying to mail it is pretty risky, so I locally bought an Arturia #MiniLab. A little more expensive, but functional as well and a little bigger. I'll try it out at the end of the week.

haha I really had to fight the urge of getting a new host for the #homelab this morning! I honestly do not need more computers. I need to sell them!! What I need is to clean up this mess in some sort of mini rack or something.. Need to spend the money there before I go for another

Attempt number 1 failed with lx branded zones in #SmartOS and crowdsec. It seems crowdsec needs something something kernel like and it's not liking what lx branded zone is giving. I'm ganna try with a debian vm instead.

Some shit i'm not really feeling so far as I try #smartOS and it's probably me!! They say use bhyve it's better cause kvm is old.... no documentation on how to get bhyve really working. VNC doesn't seem to want to work with bhyve. I'm sure i'm missing some setting somewhere that only someone knows in some discord server.

Do you ever get that feeling when you are trying something new in your #homelab of, " Dope, I got it installed!! Shit now what!". I was just installing smartos and I went through the prompts and I have no idea if it's right but it booted up and was pretty painless. Now I'm lost 😜 😆 .

Some more work on the LB front. I have now been able to write a simple curl bash script as a health check that curls a endpoint you can create with caddy ( all add the code below). So now I can have caddy instances down and the LB route traffic to the only healthy instance. Just need to do all the things together.

Works as advertised!!

Running slow cooker against a service I have behind my #gobetween load balancers which front end 2 caddy instances. I shutdown the red load balancer and you can see blue load balancer picked it right up and nothing seemed to get dropped . I'm sort of dope 😎

Aye! I was able to load up two load balancers on different nodes in the cluster. These two load balancers have keepalived between them so if one goes down the other pics up the ip.. These front end 2 caddy instances also on different cluster memebers. So I'm about to start shutting down loadbalancers to see if things stay up!!

Looks like keepalived screws up some metrics that the lb can no longer see. Need to work on that.

It's unfortunate that this load balancer is no longer maintained, but I found one called #gobetween that I guess does what I want it too. Here is me trying to "performance" test it with slowcoooker. I dunno if these numbers are right.. Thing seems pretty performant.
