Turns out the Myanmar military hadn't really thought about the #digital presence of the #state when planning its coup.

Hundreds of thousands of #Civil #servants joined the civil disobedience movement and took their #admin #credentials with them - occasionally kicking out the remaining admins or taking the assets offline to prevent their takeover.

It took the military months to assert control - and they still only have ~68% of the #ministries #Facebook accounts.

They kept trying though, which makes us fear for the #safety of the admins who may be getting targeted and maybe even tortured for a chance at recovering the priced blue ticked accounts. :verified_flashing:​
