It's always lovely when I get an unexpected 'camera pressie!'
Today my wife came home from work sporting a camera bag full of goodies, given to me by one of her work colleagues.
A lovely Minolta XG1 and Rokkor 50mm f1.7 lens
+ several other lenses of various makes and mounts. Tomorrow's job going through them I think!

Minolta made plenty of Prototypes - but did you know that the XK(/XM/X1) was initially called the 'XX'?
And that's not all! The XE Prototype was named 'XE-F' prior to its US designation of XE-7! (EU went for XE-1, Japan went for XE).
Nameplates examples were created for each, and very few exist today.

#FilmIsNotDead and neither is my XE anymore!
The #Minolta XE has been out of commission for a few months after the power switch broke off and then I broke it further with some DIY repairs. Now that I got the spare parts and some steadier hands, it's good as near-new and as smooth as butter again!
Taking advantage of that to also showoff a new lens - an MC #Rokkor SI 28mm f/2.5.Mildly radioactive elements but obviously safe enough to receive in the post!

The first camera that I bought myself was the MinoIta XG-M in 1981. I used that camera for many years until it stopped working. I recently found this Minolta X-700 at a yard sale for $30 US. It had a good battery in it, so I was able to check it out before buying it. I feel lucky to have found an X-700 in such good condition. It is like welcoming an old friend back into my life.

From #Boston at the Christian Science center, circa 1978, a girlfriend helped me with this shoot which I only discovered today while scanning old negatives from class assignments.
Shot on #Kodak Tri-X using a #Minolta SRT 101 (all I could afford then) and processed in the old basement #BU #SPC student darkroom.
We #Boomers weren't so dull, eh? Still, the #OG headphone cords...
Man, do I miss real, chemistry-based #35mm #film you developed yourself.
