Today is the Kven people’s day, which I didn’t know, but my local café does. My grandmother descended from Kven immigrants, arriving with Sami herders from the Torne valley some 400 years ago. She never talked about it while she lived. Kven still has no official orthography, btw. #minorities #minoritylanguage

Seriously got an oxford scholar in my comments of my last post on Scottish gaelic telling me that brits have definitely studied any gaidhlig roots of English & that there are only 100 words that are in the English language from it.

Don’t really trust this coming from the educational mouthpiece of the linguistic colonizer. 

You seriously think I’m gonna believe that celtic languages and English just magically managed to exist in total linguistic isolation from each other despite living together on the same island for hundreds of years?

How does that make sense?

Ok - I will, after this post, now set my default posting language to #Scots so that means that if people with screen readers who want to follow me wish to choose to filter out my Scots posts now and again, they can.

Sadly this gives people who don't want to see written Scots in the wild the ability to filter out our posts, but surely no one is so offended by our written language. Hahah.
