My kids need access to their school websites to track tasks & even order food. I want to set up a way of allowing access to only those required sites on a browser. I am using #mintlinux and #firefox . What is the best way of making my old laptop into a dedicated school dumb terminal i.e. blocking all other activities on the machine especially web browsing via #whitelisting ? Is there a smart way of getting a complete set of #URLs or web addresses for a site to list in #dnsmasq .conf #whitelist

@dashaun ~10 years ago. The owner of the guest house I was staying was complaining about their slow computer, which was then running windows. I lent them a bootable flash drive running #MintLinux, and they were amazed how fast it ran.

Before I left, they decided to ditch Windows for Linux. When I visited again after a few years, they were still running Mint on the same computer.

I don't know if I screwed up my settings or if my desktop and laptop are out to drive me mad. I do most of my posting to #mastodon from my desktop and my laptop. I do most of my reading from my cellphone. Here recently on both my laptop and my desktop, I have not been receiving notifications. I get them on my phone. The OS on my desktop is #MXlinux the OS on my laptop is #MintLinux and my phone is an #android. Not sure where to start looking to fix this.

@ablackcatstail I cudnae gies a shite about it other than AUR is the best package manager as far as sheer quantity of software.If #mintlinux had AUR then I'd be using that. #linux #nerdshit

@motoridersd I feel I am happy with #MintLinux on an original compulab MintBox... And the only time I had a problem is I think when whatever sound transponder behind the audio jack went out-of-spec* forcing me to use a cheap USB-to-audio-jack converter.

*(There is a good chance that whatever sound transponder was also confused by going through my 4-port dual HDMI KVM and would turn itself off. I could eventually get it working but had to manually enable the sound port as "headphones".)

Downloading an obsolete version of #MintLinux onto an old USB stick because why not? #Linux
