Tried switching to #MintMobile. What a fucking nightmare. After two weeks, 5 days with no service, I am back to my original carrier. They could not activate my eSim after hours of support calls. Took forever to assign a new one to try. Left a voice mail with my account and transfer pin with the WRONG NUMBER, not even the same area code. The people I spoke to were great. The ones handling the escalations, not so much. Sure they are good with a physical sim, but don’t bring a modern iPhone. 👎🏻

I love my cell service for price and performance, but I hate it for upgrading! Apple only recognizes the big three. So I cannot just upgrade as normal with equipment added to the bill. So the only options are going to a store if I want Apple Card installments or paying for it in full or charging in full. #MintMobile only offers financing w/interest with affirm. Ugh. I just need a new device. Meh

I reported #MintMobile to the BBB, insisting on a full refund and something to be done about the phone number I lost, the number I've had for about 15 years.

This is what Mint responded with:
"Thank you so much for contacting Mint Mobile, my name is Rachel and I'll be more than happy to assist you today. We truly apologize for this bad experience you recently had. To further assist you."

Yes, I definitely get the sense I'm hearing from a thinking, feeling human, fluent in English.

See, #BoostMobile and #MintMobile were merely incompetent. They lost my phone number through incompetence, I fought them for three weeks over incompetence.

#RealID is a #conservative conspiracy to obstruct, harass, and create criminals where there were none. All my paperwork (driver's license, social security, tax returns, military record, etc.) except my birth certificate (clerical error) list my legal name as W, so the MN DPS-DVS has decided my court order for name change is invalid.

I think customer service representatives aren't prepared to deal with me because I'm ex-military, which means I can wait for vast stretches of time.

Consequently, today makes the second time a #MintMobile rep has hung up on me.

Officially no longer a #MintMobile customer.

Phone issues aren't improving. #BoostMobile still hasn't unlocked my phone. I'm on my fifth phone call with them and the second call facilitated by #MintMobile. I haven''t had a working phone for a week. And it seems that if someone's working too long on a task (more than three minutes), Boost just cuts the call.

Progress and No Progress: #BoostMobile still insists my phone is unlocked and Mint needs to activate the SIM card. #MintMobile still insists Boost has locked my phone and they can't continue processing my new account. Even with both representatives on a party line, they insist this.

Boost told me it would take 48 hours to unlock my phone; it's been 72 hours, and they've asked for another day to process this request.

I fly out in three days. I need my working number for calls and to use Square.

Update: #BoostMobile locked my phone, but they can't find my account (to unlock it) because I transferred to Mint. #MintMobile can't complete the transfer because my phone is locked.

All right, I'll admit one thing I miss about Twitter is the ability to complain directly to a company (because online and phone contact had failed) and they had to respond because it was bad optics not to.

That doesn't exist on Mastodon. I've been fighting to activate my new #MintMobile account for over a day and their tech support can't even identify the SIM they sent me or the temporary number I was assigned. Mint will never see this whinge.

Even after Ryan Reynolds’ Mint Mobile acquisition by T-Mobile, AFAICT, Mint users have no scam protection, like T-Mobile Scam Shield app ☹️ Mint customers still second-class T-Mobile citizens☹️😡👎

Update No.3 on switch to #googlefi

Switched the last two lines from #MintMobile and I will say that the process is more annoying vs Cricket. I had to spend about 10min in chat, per line. First with virtual chat, then a real person asking for my transfer pin. Vs Cricket I just got the pin off of my account dashboard. Second both times I had to justify why I was leaving Mint. Also something I didn't have to do with Cricket.

Once I got the pin, the transfer was quick and is now done.
