Ten years ago, Dmitry Grinberg became known for his Linux emulator running on an 8-bit AVR. Did you know that he also built an ARM Cortex M-based business card which is able to run Linux in his homebrew MIPS DECstation emulator? This emulator also compiles and runs nicely on a regular Unix (macOS here, only a few fixes required) using SDL2. Here you can see it running Ultrix 4.5. #retrocomputing #MIPS #DEC

Like the next68k port of #netbsd, which stopped working after 5.2.3 due to a number of regressions (will be fixed in 10.0), the algor (Algorithmics #mips R5064 board) port suffered significantly from bitrot. Kernel 5.0.2 works, everything after 7.0 is definitely problematic – 7.0 even detects two CPUs (there's only one R5k on the board, I checked!), but no peripherals... #retrocomputing
