Just got an account set up on #Miraheze to set up a private wiki for a new story idea I have.

Taking inspiration from #OldGodsOfAppalachia and #TheMagnusArchive to make an urban fantasy/horror thing featuring an academic department funded through creative grant writing which investigates the weird stories of Northeast Ohio. Filing the serial numbers off a local college and calling it #MahoningStateUniversity

so is #Miraheze @miraheze currently stable? I wish I had heard of this project ages ago

I've updated the statistics of the #WikiTeam collection at the #InternetArchive. Crazy that they're happy to host our 100+ TiB of XML and random images, without counting the 400+ TiB of #Wikimedia dumps and 1000+ TiB of archived outlinks in the wayback machine.

The #Miraheze dumps have little impact on the numbers but with the renewed interest in our ancient messy code I'll soon be able to credit some new developers and archivists.

Further to my previous post about #miraheze (https://iscurrently.live/@theresnotime/110555837917887584), apparently there's some attempts to keep it going — I cannot in good faith recommend you believe them, and you should still migrate away from them as soon as possible.

If you're in the EU/UK, I'd also recommend you submit a data removal request under the GDPR (once you've got your backups).

If you're using #miraheze to host a wiki, please take a data dump now while you can — there's loads of other places you can host a MediaWiki install.. don't wait until it totally implodes!

I am seriously considering switching to calckey.lgbt as my main instance.

Is there anything bad about the instance I should know before I hit the button? Something bad the admins have done? Conflict and uncertainty among the mods? Instances they didn't #defederate that they should have, or vice versa?

Given my recent experience trying to migrate #PandorasTaleWiki to #Miraheze only for Miraheze to end up in turmoil, I figure it can't hurt to ask. #Calckey #CalckeyLGBT

Would you consider selling the #Miraheze assets to a non-profit association or #coop, so the community can continue under another (and more appropriate) corporate entity?

So I'm not going to delete the #FandomWiki copy of the wiki for at least a few months to see how that shakes out.

Pros of moving:
1)Stock #MediaWiki with no #enshitification .
2)I'm concerned #Fandom might make it even harder to leave in the future.
3)Though #Miraheze is centralized, it does allow custom domains, so if I really wanted to I could splurge for a domain like pandoras-tale-fan-wiki.gay. (Though that's more expensive it seems).

A query for #PandorasTale fans! Should I move Pandora's Tale Wiki away from fandom.com?

Caveat: I do not want to host a server myself, so don't suggest moving it to its own server unless you're offering to host it for me.

IRC is so much more robust than it used to be.
Miraheze (good free wikia hosting site) and Opensim (secondlife server emulator) both have IRC and use this web app called "Libera Chat". It is suprisingly robust and clean. I havent made an account but I can still see both of the IRCs I connected to.
