Here's one worthy advice if you're using long telephoto vintage lenses; Check your mount adapter(s) for any reflective surfaces and dampen those with a roll of black foam or coat it with matte black paint or even a black permanent marker! I hear and read way too many people complain about lack of sharpness, contrast, glowy highlights, central bright spot, etc... on long telephoto and especially on mirror lenses. ALL of that will be caused by internal reflections and yes, your mount adapter can cause those as well. And, at such a steep angle that the light takes going through such a lens, in a digital era, that light will reflect off your sensor onto the deepest recesses of your mount adapter and then back onto the sensor again. If you want to go hardcore technical, that's called backscatter en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backscat and unless that's the effect you were going for, it will ruin your shots. So do remove those the best you can, then enjoy using your lens as its designers intended. And no, internal dust or even a bit of fungus doesn't matter all that much, take care of those internal reflections first!

OK, I lied. I'll post another test shot for today. This is the Tamron SP 500mm BBAR f/8 fixed aperture mirror lens (Cassegrain catodioptric) (pentaxforums.com/userreviews/t). Handheld shot at 1/500s and that's what IBIS is for! With its silly narrow depth of field, it's insanely difficult to nail focus with this lens in anything but good light even on an 8 stops stabilized beast of a camera, but also very satisfying once you do manage to. One could employ a plethora of tricks to help in that however, especially on a camera that can do 20+ FPS and in-camera focus stacking. But, do disable mechanical shutter if you're not taking photos of moving subjects, as they'll introduce vibration otherwise and then IBIS has to fight on two fronts at the same time, camera's own vibration AND your shaky hands!

Testing the Sigma 600mm Mirror Lens

Photographers know that nothing beats a long focal length lens. I've been trying out a Sigma 600mm mirror lens.
