2023: Learned that my father was dead, lost the girl who got me and who I really got along with, and, tonight, I was dethroned as karaoke king at the bar where I am a well-loved regular (or was) by a classically trained singer (nice guy: I bear him no ill will) who was, get this, also named Ed. I cannot seem to catch a break this year. All you can do in such situations is sit in a LES basement bar, nurse a gin and tonic, and laugh your ass off.
