anyway, it reminded me of many, many conversations with granddaughters about ‘mr nobody.’ #MisterNobody is much more ambiguous and nuanced than you might image. the phrase is used in dozens of different contexts, and its meaning isn’t always clear

what i am struck by at this moment, is realizing that these girls are using this language to learn and practice so many things like imagination, abstraction, mystery, conjuring, creating, in a way that is completely recognized by our culture, however unspoken, as ‘deep’ questions of reality, identity, the self, and just general philosophy
