you a developer/programmer in some capacity but perhaps also dj who uses mixxx and sometimes Pioneer CDJ and would love to avoid to use rekordbox to prepare USBs for DJjing?

then this effort to be able to export from #Mixxx crates and playlist to USB to be used in CDJs might be for you:

(rekordcrate is library to parse device exports for the CDJ/XDJ series players (usually exported from the Pioneer Rekordbox DJ software), written in Rust. under heavy development)

And it turns out that the #vamp plugins can do a lot of other stuff that doesn't really get exposed in software that uses it. #Mixxx will happily tell you what key a song starts in, but the qm-keydetector plugin will give you timestamps of every place it thinks the key might have changed. Hell, it'll even tell you where it thinks song sections (chorus, bridge, verse, etc) start, though it won't identify them as such.

Gotta take a bunch of its output with a grain of salt, but it's still neat!

#Mixxx can't deal handily with stems, though, and the resampling is meant to be realtime so quality takes a back seat.

#Ardour can do the time stretching on stems, but it's currently buggy and frustrating to get aligned with the beat grid.

Nothing against either project; I'm trying to use them for something their authors didn't have in mind, so that's on me.

But what I _can_ do is go look at how Mixxx does its variable tempo beat mapping and steal that, then steal Ardour's time stretching.

Every so often, it's really good to be a software engineer.

One of the major roadblocks for my wife and I making mashups is having to manually beat match the stems. I haven't found a DAW workflow that can make this process less tedious, so it gets put off and the actual creative work just never starts.

And the frustrating thing is that there are bits of the process in various open source projects. #Mixxx can do the beat matching to a constant tempo if you lie to it a bit.
