I'm seriously excited though. It's been really hard to resist buying a #Miyoo or an #Anbernic device during the wait, but I somehow managed.

I should have ordered a dock as well but hopefully they will have met demand and the wait won't be as long on one of those.

A garden centre we often visited when I was a kid had a single lonely old Space Invaders machine in a corner. I'd always get a coin from my parents to play it. (A 10p, maybe?)

One time there were a bunch of older kids crowded around it. I waited patiently, one of them noticed me and let me play. The machine was rigged to not need coins so I played for free.

The next time we visited it was gone. In hindsight, they were all playing it one last time before it was removed.

I love all of these #Linux handheld gaming devices by #Retroid, #Miyoo and #Anbernic, but they still don’t beat first-party devices like the #Nintendo Switch and 3DS. Mostly for stability, performance, and online play. Even the retro emulation they offer is top notch.

Just got a #Miyoo Mini+! Can someone direct me to a user guide for dummies to manage the Roms and Cores? I need to delete a ton and want to add some roms and emulators I have (if possible). I found one video online but the folder structure was a little different. (I’m using a Mac)

It's one of those things where I can tell age (or, time) affects my taste; I've been trying out #Suikoden for the #Playstation #PS1, and it's.. kind of fun?

I was never a fan of turn-based combat nor the general cheesiness that tends to come with #JRPG games, but it's not bad so far -- in part thanks to it having a "free will" option that kind of auto battles for a round. It also helps that I can easily play in short bursts thanks to save states.

I downloaded a very carefully curated collection of ROMs for #miyooMini #onionOS and it's got screenshots, and cover art and logos in the thumbnails!!

Trouble is that the #GarlicOS theme I'm using displays text over the thumbnails and it looks kinda like trash.

I wonder if it's possible to have #retroArch render the thumbnails over the #ROMs list when available.

@pedroadelino Yeah I still might get a #Miyoo at some point, just because OnionOS looks so good. It makes it the ultimate "play for a few minutes and then chuck it back in your bag" device.

And I mainly emulate GB/GBC/GBA anyway. 🤷‍♂️ So I don't necessarily need the extra power.

@pedroadelino Yeahhhh, it was a scam. 😅 I ended up getting a #Retroid Pocket 3+ instead (which I'm really, really happy with). And it was surprisingly easy to get a refund on AliExpress, so that's something.

Hopefully the different screen size on the #Miyoo Mini Plus means they can keep up with demand and this won't be an issue going forward. 🤞

Kid settled on and purchased a #Miyoo mini 2. We couldn’t find one on Amazon, so we traded the gift cards to buy necessities on Amazon and he got the Miyoo on eBay.

Criticism of the screen was overrated; It’s a nice device.

Everyone’s suggestions on #SBC that are not raspberry pi’s helped educate him on what was available and helped him to make a good purchase with his Christmas money.
