I've really been getting into #retrogaming.

So far I've bought an #anbernic #rg353vs, #rg405v, #rg35xx, and a #miyoominiplus. That's in addition to the #New3DSXL, #GameBoyAdvance, and #GameBoyAdvanceSP I already have. What's really bad is I keep looking at the horizontal #handhelds as well.

I think I might have a problem.

The retroachievements.com integration into #RetroArch on the #MiyooMiniPlus is cool and something I’d love to get into but the online only element to it just puts me off.

I get that it prevents people cheating the achievement unlocks, but I don’t want to feel like "Oh I can't play this game until I get home as I'm trying to 100% the achievements" etc. 😕

I selected “Random Game” on my #MiyooMiniPlus and it gave me Haunting Starring Polterguy by EA for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. It’s a game where you’re a poltergeist called Polterguy and you’ve got to jump in and out of different home objects in order to scare the occupants and get them to move out. Quite a fun little game.

I can't believe it actually worked. Combined a $30 welcome Rakuten offer with a 50% off coupon on Temu, and this thing showed up for $4.80 shipped. I probably just sold my data for pennies, but oh well, it was cheap 😇. I'm excited to try the games I missed as a kid. 🎮

Remember when cheap, Chinese knock-off consoles were the weird things you saw in markets that were far more likely to catch on fire than provide a decent gaming experience?

Well, erm, that seems to be no longer necessarily the case.

This is the #MiyooMiniPlus, a Chinese #Linux powered handheld that runs #RetroArch to emulate up to PS1 era games.

And it is so well done! The unit feels sturdy, the emulation is mostly solid and the screen is brilliant!

Today I should receive a Miyoo mini +. This is my entry to the retro hand-held console world. I heard good things about Miyoo mini but also a few bad. After two months of wait I'm actually quite curious what I will find. Looks awesome. Should be much better than the ROMs I got on the 32 GB microSD card that came with my #MiyooMiniPlus. Saves me a lot of time searching and testing ROMs as well. Just wonderful.

It's for the Miyoo Mini, but I assume it also works perfectly fine on the #MiyooMiniPlus.

Need a case for the device, don't want it get damaged. Should've got one when I ordered the #MiyooMiniPlus...

Have been looking around on some webshops and Aliexpress, but their either not sold or take too long to arrive. On Reddit, others suggested to use a 2.5 inch hard drive case; much easier to find and a lot of options.

Ordered one online, it should arrive on Thursday.

Great build quality! And very portable as well, love the form factor and the portability.

It's a great companion during my nightly walks with my cat - I've been playing Pokémon Yellow.

I'm a sucker for handheld game #Emulators. Today I've been sorting my #MiyooMiniV2 and the #MiyooMiniPlus (which they should have dropped the Mini part of the name). They're absolutely delightful. I'll be glad when they release a proper #OnionOS for the Plus though. I haven't played it much because of that, unfortunately.

In other news though, I'm trying to get things together enough to put together my #RetroidPocket3Plus that I just kind of...bought and did nothing with. #MiyooMiniPlus is on the way, so I'll be thrilled when it gets here as well. Collecting handheld #emulators is wild. So many available, so little time (and money) to obtain them. Let's not even mention the new #keyboard I put together today and the #Gameboys I have to fix.
