#hamradio Finally got #DMR working through the #MMDVM hotspot. Listening on #fediverse Talkgroup 2630002, but so far no QSO there. Plenty of traffic on Worldwide TG91 and USA TG3100.

Do any of you amateur #radio nerds use an #MMDVM? I just got one and am setting it up, but I don't want to use #PiStar because it doesn't have an explicit open source license, and was last built on Debian 10 (oldoldstable).
So I'm trying to find sufficient documentation to do things manually, if at all possible. I *may* end up just doing a big write-up myself once I work it out, but if others have done similar things, it could save me some time. #DMR #HAMRadio #HotSpot

My lunch box #MMDVM hat has had added 3.5" #Nextion enhanced display to the lid, also added a 24V fan for air circulation. The power to all this is via a 12V to 5V buck converter and the fan is connected to the 12V input to that, and the Pi and MMDVM Dual at is connected to the USB socket with short cable.
Also has room to have a battery bank to be add to it in the future if needed

Well I had an interesting night trying to update the firmware in my #MMDVM #DUPLEX #hotspot V1.3 hardware from #Firmware V1.5.2 to V1.6.1, well lets say it not go to any good plan, some how I damaged one board to the point that the RF stage seems to be dead as it does not receive or send and it didn't accept the new firmware.
The other the same didn't accept the new firmware and the JP1 solder pad half it came away on the solder wick.
So neither took the 1.6.1 firmware πΏ

Thank you for the activation. I am interested in many ham radio related topics...

Bought an Anytone D878 UVII Plus this week and a #mmdvm dual hs hat learn more about #dmr. Never ceases to amaze me how complex these systems get.
Had a bad experience trying to setup a Retevis RT3S, returned it then started reading about OpenGD77 and kind of want to buy another now
Looking forward to joining a net or two soon to test out the code plug.
Just ordered another #mmdvm #hotspot should be here in a couple of day, I'll have this one setup for #C4FM #Yaesu #Fusion #hamRadio
When I started my digital journey years ago, I started with #dstar #Icom ID-91,later getting a ID-92, but it wasn't until I got a ID-51 & hot spot that it really made since to me.
I moved to #DMR a few years ago-Picked that up right away, and understood it quickly
I got a early Christmas present of a #FT5DR - Using it for #APRS now, but hopefully more soon

Warum tastet China-MMDVM immer meine Funke auf? Es ist ein kurzes Klicken. Keine Modulation. DrΓΌcken so viele OP auf PTT?
Been randomly troubleshooting why my #MMDVM repeater only gets about a half mile of reception range for a few months now. Kept using my NanoVNA to try to tune the duplexer better, mess with the TX/RX gains in MMDVM, etc.
I just noticed I had the duplexer plugged in upside down so it was attenuating the RX frequency on the RX side and vice versa...
