What if I do without the switch though...

From what I can tell, the #MoCA network functions as a switch. And assuming the FTTdp thing just bridges it all through, I'm basically connected to ISP router through a switch. So broadcasts and whatever junk will be sent to the ISP, which will probably drop the #VLAN junk, but the vast majority of the packets won't be sent there. So it'll work...

Well, in either case, there's going to be #VLAN on the #MoCA network, cause even with the router I will need to get multiple networks to my server.

The question is, will the MoCA endpoints be usable as access ports, or will all devices have to be VLAN aware?

If an ordinary device receives both untagged and tagged frames, what does it do with the tagged frames?

Anyone who knows #MoCa Coax networking: When a device is sold as 2.5Gbps throughput, is that split between up/down channels (as needed)? ie: If I copy something to another computer and then copy FROM that computer too, is that not exactly saturating, but causing the device to split the 2.5Gbps? OR is it 2.5Gbps up/down?

Also, does the throughput go down the more extra MoCa adapters I put on the coax - reasonably... like 3 or 4 not 20... 😉

Some good things that happened today, and it's not even over:

- Learned how to test which coax drop inside my house connected to which beige cable on the side of my house.
- Found the cable pair I needed in one try.
- Learned how to use a coax crimper
- Wired the Eero extender farthest away from my fiber drop with MOCA -- triple the Wi-Fi speed in that room now.

MOCA is blowing the doors off the old powerline setup we had years ago.

Wichtigste #OpenWrt-Funktionen, die ich #2022 verwendet habe, falls wer Ideen braucht:

* Attended Sysupgrades (updates ohne die übliche Mühe)
* DAWN (schnelle Übergabe der Clients zwischen den APs, Komfortable Übersicht übers gesamt-WLAN)
* SQM QoS (einfache Vermeidung stockenden Datenverkehrs nach draußen)
* Hardware flow offloading (schnelles NAT)

Da hat sich echt viel getan in den letzten Jahren, ein Blick drauf lohnt sich.

Router ist bei mir der Turris Omnia, als zweiter AP fungiert ein Netgear WAC124. Verbunden sind beide mittels #MoCA 2.0 über altes TV-Coaxkabel, das läuft so viel besser als mesh oder plc.

#TurrisOS taugt für mich persönlich leider nix mehr, hat Macken an allen Ecken und Enden.

This is rock-solid and I would recommend the upgrade to any people wanting to upgrade ethernet!
