This is a curious record. Its called Vora and it is by Raulsson (Raul Pastor Medall). Produced by Nils Frahm and released by Sonicpieces, it is lovely to listen to and look at. I suppose you'd call it modern composition - very closely mike-ed piano and languid strings. The sleeve has a cut out panel filled with cloth, making it tricky to photo. It's on streaming services. Give it a shot.

I do like a bit of calm & contemplative neoclassical musical on a Sunday, & the sophomore LP from young French pianist Rémi Fay is hitting the sweet spot today, as he painstakingly frames time, space & place with his succinct piano, ambient noise & well chosen collaborators with a similar minimal disposition.

I saw Caroline Shaw and So Percussion last night at the Kennedy Center and they were amazing. The most amazing thing was SO doing Julia Wolfe's composition "Forbidden Love." You really have to see it to believe it. This version is from a couple years ago but is equally fun: youtu.be/uAbXpdJsA6E
