@sam A "media" site misread @JoinMastodon as @JohnMastodon in one of their articles and wrote what's in this image as part of a story. (They've since "corrected" it by removing the reference to "John Mastodon" but keeping in "competing social media company" because reporters are terrible human beings.)

But it was too late. The legend of #JohnMastodon has taken hold and filled the Fediverse and the BirdSite. This is #ModernFolklore being built up before our eyes.
