Have to say having done a talk at and event with organiser of #ModernFrontends in the past - I don't know if karma is catching up - but the vitriol aimed at one person is quite something, and some of the pile-on is just showing folks in a bad light.
I get people were put out of pocket, but lesson learned and never do events associated with her again. Move on.
Is the hate campaign needed?
In case you were ever wonder what _NOT_ to do at a conference, here’s a really good write up by @nialljoemaher@twitter.com

Another post about #ModernFrontends from Dylan Beattie
Absolute fucking madness what I've heard about this event.
Not a peep from the organiser about all this either...

@seb_ly @philhawksworth There are bad actors that try to grab the big money while they can. There are also people who mean well but can't quite deliver on what they promise.
The more I hear, the safer I feel assuming that #ModernFrontends falls in the first category.
Due to travelling and work I’ve not been able to catch up with what happened at #ModernFrontends conference, but it sounds like things didn’t go well at all. I commend @cassiecodes for speaking up on it and at the same time bringing her professionalism to it, more details over on her blog https://www.cassie.codes/posts/modern-frontends/
One remark about the #ModernFrontends debacle: while not offering flight and hotel to speakers is indeed a red flag, I cannot see how the conference could have budgeted them for 100+ speakers. It's just too many - even if we assume all are European you'd still look at about 900 euros per head, i.e. 90,000 just for flight and hotel. That's not sustainable.
That doesn't exonerate the conference - it could have invited fewer speakers - but it's still something to keep in mind.
Here's another writeup, this time by @cassiecodes

It's really sad when event organisers don't consider their responsibility to attendees or speakers.
Yes, it is extremely difficult to run a conference and it can be hugely overwhelming if you don't manage to get the ticket sales you need in order to supply everything.
But refusal to accept responsibility is not a good strategy.

So my last conference of the year is #ModernFrontends next week in London. Who all will I see there, or who will be in London and we should hang?
