They enjoyed a mutually-inspiring friendship from the moment they met as young emigres in Paris in 1905, and a host of 20th century artists drew inspiration from the creative energy that burned between them. This was taken in Het Park, designed in the middle of the 19th century, and we're looking beyond it to the contrasting and dominating structure of the 1950s-built #Euromast tower. We thoroughly enjoyed Rotterdam; it's a dream of a city for architecture fans.

Summertime! 'Balls on the Beach,' 1960s, Philip Evergood (1901-1973). A leading Social Realist, Evergood also became one of the leading Modernists with compositions that bordered on magic realism. He distanced himself from political & social issues to figures more fanciful & free, with an almost childlike sweetness in his work.
