Always loved this album - partly cuz I was learning the guitar at the time and they printed the chords above the lyrics in the CD booklet (as they did on The Great Escape).

#GreatAlbums1990s - #Blur – #ModernLifeIsRubbish (1993). Blur upped the game on their second disc, adding the Syd Barrett/ Bowie/ Small Faces fixations that would define them at their peak. For a band tagged as “pop,” there’s considerable adrenaline here – not to mention enough weirdness to suggest Blur was always too arty and esoteric to wear the Britpop crown of thorns stuck on their stylish moptops soon after this, their best album.
