I come back to my #modestproposal that anyone over 65 should be prohibited from working other than for themselves and should not have the right to vote. Kind of the opposite of the 0-18 situation. Statistically speaking, if your horizon is less than a 2-term presidential administration, maybe you shouldn't be setting long-term policies. Advising, sure. Giving wisdom, great. But deciding? No way.

(Please note the "modest proposal" bit and look into the meaning of that phrase.)

Proposal: 'Jackie' as a default stand-in name that does not specify gender.

Conventional stand-in names include 'John Doe', 'Jane Doe', and 'Joe Bloggs'. I'm not aware there's a corresponding stand-in name for situations where gender is unknown, indeterminate, or non-binary. I suggest 'Jackie', with the pronouns they/their/them.

With public interest in the Oscars declining every year, here's a way that the organizers could add some drama to the event. They wouldn't even have to give EVERY winner an exploding statue. Handing out just one each year would reintroduce some of the tension and anticipation that's been missing from the ceremony lately.
