In #Norwegian #folklore, the #slime #mold is the droppings of the #trollnøste, or troll cat. These creatures are constructed by #witches using human hair, wood shavings, and blood.

Some of them look like cats, but others look like balls of yarn. Their job is to steal milk directly from your cows and deliver it to the witch. They will even sneak into your house to steal your cream.

Sometimes, shooting the trollnøste will harm the witch who sent it. Sometimes not.

Not a #plant, not an #animal, not a #fungus! What is it? Nobody knows. Scientists just gave up and call it a #eukaryote. It's the #Slime #Mold (not a mold).

This is a specimen of the aptly named Dog's Vomit Slime Mold //Fuligo septica//. The red liquid forms as the slime mold dries out. It is filled with spores, allowing new slime molds to be re-born when conditions improve.
