Do you know about Monster Clay? It's a sulphur free WAX #clay. I love it SO so much. It doesn't get brittle, is easy to with, and MELTABLE.

I chunk it up, melt it slowly (warm mode for 30 mins) and then pour it into a cylinder or flat mold. As soon as it cools you're ready to sculpt!

Demolding a 2x MOTU-style torso mold. Went from a plain 2 part mold to a “sock” style, to a 2 part with a sleeve and a plaster shell. It’s a lot of work but I’m happy with the results. Masto doesn’t seem to host video, so here’s a YouTube link (it’s short, about 30 seconds!). ✌🏽👀

First couple of castings from the mold. One has pulled the remnants or the pasted out. Going to try some vaguely cold casted ones tomorrow with some other urethane and maybe paint these.

Thought I’d have to break the plaster to extract it from the mold, which would be fine if the mold was good. Only get to see if the mold is good after removing the master.

Somehow managed to extract it in one piece, but the mold is good so it doesn’t matter!

Right. Let’s try this again. With more steps. Step 1: festive bake in alginate.

Naturally, given I spent an age finding the correct ratio for my needs, I mathed wrong, so I’m going to leave it until after lunch before extracting.

Decided to go two routes as a kind of failsafe. One should result in a cut block mold, that can be rotocasted, one will be an open back for slush casting.
