Another way to make haploid plants! Mutant in egg specific peptidases leads to maternal haploids in selfing or crosses, which is a result of defective sperm/egg nuclei fusion (karyogamy). Zygotes appeared to leave the sperm nuclei behind and developed into haploid embryos.
