Scientists have captured the most detailed images of cell division ever using a new microscopy technique. The technique, called lattice light-sheet microscopy, allows them to observe the movements and interactions of molecules inside living cells in 3D and real-time. It could reveal new insights into the mechanisms and regulation of cell division and the causes and consequences of errors that lead to diseases such as cancer.
