@terrymatz My opinion is that it was not because of the lawsuit or backlash, but because of the success the Missouri legislature had in banning all trans healthcare for minors, and banning trans children from playing on sports teams.

Hurting the trans community has been openly discussed* as the number one legislative priority for this session, and they got the results they wanted. (And no need for further embarrassment in this specific court, perhaps. The next attempt could get assigned to a homophobic judge.)
