Discovered after hearing a cover version today that the backing vocal behind the chorus here is not "then she saw his eyes" as I've thought since around 1984, but is in fact "Les yeux sans visage" (the title of the song in french) #mondegreen
*to be fair 1984 me was very young and did not know any french, vs 2023 me who knows just enough french to translate the phrase
Eyes Without a Face - Billy Idol (1983)

I remember this one Latin kid at work thought that Jason Derulo - Ridin’ Solo was “Riding Cholo” and that’s gotta be the funniest #Mondegreen I’ve ever heard.
I was disappointed to learn tonight that the Sarah Vaughan song Jim is not a tongue in cheek parody of jazz love songs with a tale of a woman and her favourite spirit, gin
In "I'll never fall in love again" I always thought Bobbie Gentry sung "he'll never bone ya" but it was "he'll never phone ya".
The song sounds more modern than 1969 and I guess that's why I thought it was more salacious!

Oh finally, someone tackles those ridiculous phrases so many use without thinking.
Ex. "free reign" should be "free rein".

Misheard the lyrics here as "upstairs like a seance in an airfield" and I 💯 prefer my version.

Battles by Atlas.
The beefaroni song.
You can't unhear it.
OK, am I the one who hears the #mondegreen "wrapped up like a douche" instead of "revved up like a deuce" for this song? It catches me every time.
my other favourite #mondegreen #MisheardLyrics comes from CSS:
"music is my favourite waitress"
got the tunes on random/shuffle today and I just heard my all time favourite #mondegreen, from Slim Harpo's Tip On In:
"let me feel those fish nipples"

it cracks me up every time I hear it 😺
anyway, please tell me your favourite #MisheardLyrics

Now the oboe may be barely breathin’
But the heart of rock & roll’s still beatin’
It's not a #mondegreen if you heard it right, but remember it wrong -- e.g. the song "Kokomo" does not rhyme "Key Largo" with "pretty Margot" or "grain embargo." They also did not rhyme "Montego" with "lumbago"

Story time
When I was younger I thought the lyrics to Robert Palmer's “Johnny & Mary” were:
Johnny's alway running around, trying to find serpenty
Now “serpenty” isn’t actually a word, but it sure looks like it *could* be one. I guess I was somehow conflating "serpent" and “serendipity”, but who knows, really?
The actual word, “certainty”, was a bit of a letdown, tbh.

Nor do they say "I don't even care, you can only please
yourself
yourself
yourself"
loool.
I had always assumed that the lyrics at the start and end of #PeterGabriel's song 'Games without frontiers' were:
'She's so popular'.
Turns out that they are actually 'Jeux sans frontiérs'.
You learn something new every day (or ever forty years or so as the case may be)!
