I make zero money on my #Youtube channel, I was monetized a few years ago, but when covid hit, I took time off and YouTube had a fit about it and de-monetized me. That was a kick in the gut, until I realized that in 6 years I barely made enough money to cover the cost of my web cam lol..

So my decision on my channel is I will not re-apply to be #monetized
again until 1Million subs. 😂

To give him his due, he probably did not foresee the full capture of #government by corporations, which let them change those “rules of the game” - gutting worker & environmental protections and allowing #monopolies to rise again.

It's strange when I see people who feel it's not as engaging here as #Twitter was. Usually they bemoan missing the thousands of followers they had. I didn't have thousands of followers and #Mastodon is much more engaging for me. I think some people are having #adoration withdrawals. Some of them have #monetized their existence and need the #followers. Hope it all works out.

#Algorithms that promote negative behaviors online, pit everyone against each other on #corporate #socialmedia networks such as #Twitter and #Facebook especially, and reward those who engage in #hateful ways with complete strangers is being #monetized 24/7.

I thought this track of theirs was relevant 31 years ago when it was released. I had no idea what was coming then, i suspected it might not be good in some ways, and i like many who thought the same were right unfortunately.

I choose #Patreon #KoFi #BuyMeACoffee and #Substack because they are fairly simple to set and have #Stripe payouts ( Patreon has #PayPal).
