Is here anything sadder than a long conversation with a 66-y.o. friend who's determined to sabotage themselves by refusing to accept that they could immeasurably increase the quality of their life, alleviate all financial worry for the remainder of their life (yes, really) if they'd only sell the family home. But they'd "rather" live hand-to-mouth in constant fret and worry over their finances than sell it--they "just could never" do that. So every conversation is a litany of financial angst that is self-inflicted and completely and totally unnecessary and *any* attempt to provide help ("have you done a budget") is met with a cascade of reasons why it "cannot be done." One of the most self-defeating people I know. It's so fucking sad. #friends #MoneyWorries
