Actually, now I think about it, I can't recommend Monica Byrne's book enough. I can't possibly summarize it enough to do it justice, but in short, it's a 3,000 year spanning story, that raises questions about gender, reincarnation, environmental catastrophe, history... it's written very reminiscent of magical realism, or even of the more fantastic parts of Cormac McCarthy's work, where you're never quite sure if what is happening is happening for real in the story, or in the characters's imaginations.

YEah, I can't explain it. But, if you get it, it will be unlike anything you've read.
