The Hawaiian Monk Seal is critically endangered. They get viruses from cats or pollutants from toxic runoff in coastal waters. They get caught in fishing nets or are hit by ships. Human trash like lighters and plastic items end up in their stomaches The rising sea waters from climate change impact birthing habitats and resting areas. They rest onshore for about 8 hours a day which is what this fellow was doing.

The nice Canon DSLR we had stopped working (grit in the SD card reader slot I think) and I miss it sometimes. I'm very much an amateur photographer but a 250mm lense still got me some nice shots.
