Ancient monoliths in the Sahara desert may be the oldest blueprints of human-made megastructures. A new study found that these stone circles, dating back to 10,000 years ago, were aligned with the stars and the solstices. This suggests that the prehistoric people who built them had advanced astronomical knowledge and engineering skills.

Neither #microservices nor #monoliths will solve the root cause of putting in the hard work to: listen first, learn deeply, and take serious mastering the craft of software development and delivery.

I'm reading and hearing lots of rants about #microservices these days but oftentimes people advocating #monoliths forget one of the major advantages of microservices: They **can** radically reduce the trusted computing base (#tcb) of a particular entity, i.e. make each individual part of your application more secure. It's true that you pay for that advantage with more operational compexity but it's worth weighing this complexity against the security benefit that microservices offer.

I’ve tried to amplify this particular message for years. 95% of businesses could get away with building #stateless #monoliths instead of raising their service meshes. And properly built monolith scales like a breeze.
