Which is to say that because interest rates increase the costs for businesses who enjoy #monopolistic #MarketPower, interest rate increases also cause *price* increases. And not to put too fine a point on it, the economists' term of art for "a sustained rise in the price level" is...*inflation*.

Fix says that at best, monetary policy - raising interest rates - simply fails to cause inflation. But at worst, it actually *increases* inflation.

I read this article by #Matthew_Desmond of #princetonuniversity and want to recommend it.

Basic thesis: slavery still informs #American capitalism and thus #world capitalism via #globalisation. Gives it a '#zero_sum' calculation that you must be either master or slave. Yes, its a weird dilemma having both #Google and CF on #bitcoinExchanges. One would expect that over time and if used properly the coins might become less "known" by those sordid, #monopolistic #corporations.

There are things that people can do to reduce the impact of them but yes, megaCorporations will try to undermine #BTC because they know 'where there bread is buttered'.

People going in now need to be a bit cautious.

The looming #Amazon #dystopian threat is enabled by a general lack of appropriately-placed distrust by liberals of the tech sector's #monopolistic and #antiprivacy practices since it is assumed that big #tech companies are "the good guys" and because specific big tech companies have succeeded in branding themselves as an indispensible part of urban liberal culture and identity.
