My team on Monster Sanctuary. I usually have the Spectral wolf, the Rocky, and the Catzerker fight. But I just got the Tanuki and the Vaero so I'm trying them out. I'm stuck at the silly levers in the blue caves.
I went with Spectral wolf for Monster Sanctuary. So far I love the game!

So I love #games that have some good secrets to discover, plus or minus action and/or RPG mechanics. And of course, indie games tend to be where the best stuff is these days due to corporate design hedging. What game(s) would you add to this list:
#Dandara
#CrossCode
#Phoenotopia
#Iconoclasts
#Ikenfell
#MonsterSanctuary
I'm sure I'm forgetting some myself so I may add my own replies...

Bought Monster Sanctuary on sale last year but did not have the time to play it. Finally picked it up this year and it's a solid game—a combination of monster collecting + platforming + turn-based battles + bits and pieces from other genres. There's a ton of stuff here to keep you entertained in single-player or online mode.

Hey there! I'm doing my introduction again because I forgot hashtags ^^'
I'm Théotime, I'm a French computer science student from Auvergne.
I mostly play roguelikes, metroidvanias (Hollow Knight my beloved) and monster tamers (i.e. "Pokémon-likes", such as Nexomon, Coromon, Monster Sanctuary,...). These days, I play a lot of Breath of the Wild, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Dead Cells, and 30XX.
I watch pretty diverse series, my favourite shows at the moment are Doctor Who, The Owl House, Inside Job, The Good Place, Rick and Morty,... Feel free to recommend me shows, I don't really have anything to watch these days.

►I didn't really bother with light/dark shifting until I was stuck on the final boss. I didn't realize it was a straight upgrade both in stats and an additional passive ability. My fault for not trying it sooner, but it was yet another consumable item...
►Game autosaves every room so that isn't much penalty to losing keeper battles (but you do lose money for losing to wild monsters).
►The random half goblin team I tried was better then than the real team I was playing with. I managed to beat the final boss without losing a single monster.
►Most monster designs were neat, but the 'goblins with jobs' were kind of lame.
►There were a few sidequests that were just give an item to get a random item. It wasn't worth the time to complete.
►Overall the game was fine and I guess I would recommend it as long as you knew what you were getting into. I didn't try the endgame content or PVP.
I finished Monster Sanctuary! I'll post my final thoughts later. It was a struggle, but I managed to conquer it.
Entering the final area in Monster Sanctuary. Hopefully the battles don't require too many team changes.
Well, I've hit a huge roadblock in Monster Sanctuary. Now I've got to decide if I'm spending hours to grind up a new team just to counter this boss. Quite sad how the keeper fights went from casual romp to hyperoptimised spike teams suddenly.
►Getting monster eggs as a random drop after battle is uninspired and boring.
►I feel like the game wants me to evolve the monsters, but I don't have the correct items or know where to get them. Plus, the moves/abilities might change on evolution and I like the moves they have right now.
►Tengu is my favorite monster.
►I don't even have any of the crafting materials to upgrade my equipment any further. At least you can buy the lower level ones you need.
►I finally got my ass handed to me in a keeper battle. I also have no idea what was happening so I have no information to understand how or why I lost. (This was against an NPC, I have no plans to try PVP right now)
►Most chests I open are just low level crafting materials.
►EXP gains have felt fair. Early it was only a few battles to level up. I do feel like I am just fighting for the EXP and not because I want to.
►Picking monsters for your team is quite difficult. There are so many choices to make.
►Combo system is interesting. Buffing one powerful monster has been working well for me.
►I feel like I rarely get new equipment or the supplies to upgrade the existing equipment. Half my team is uses random stuff I had laying around.
►Seriously, half my team sucks so that the other half can actually focus on a build. You can stack a ton of health and defense, but it's rare to see equipment to help your attacking stats.
►I've never had a keeper battle that didn't start granting the 'infinity' buff because the fight was taking too long.
►I like the metroidvania style and using the monster abilities to explore
►Icons and labels for the map, so useful!
►I've been told about light/dark forms and some sort of evolution, but it is still a mystery how to do those things or what the benefit is.
I started Monster Sanctuary. Trying to wrap my head around building a team. Every monster gets equipment and has their own skill tree. It's too early for the real strategy to emerge, but feel like I've spent too much time reading all the potential things I could do with them.

Oh, I see that Monster Sanctuary finally added difficulty settings.
THANK FUCK!!!
Seriously, the game is great and has this smooth difficulty curve that I like, and then maybe halfway through they throw in a boss with a HUGE difficulty spike that requires tactics that the game never spends any time preparing you for.
I beat it last time I played, but only after literal hours of levelling and I still felt like I only did so through lucky RNG, not my own efforts.
