As I said before, the #ttrpg is based on my all-time heartbreaker #TunnelsandTrolls (officially: #monstersmonsters). #TnT was the second #ttrpg ever. The essence always remained the same - also in #TLOFLE. The comprehensive volume combines the quite easy #rules and #setting (incl. monsters). No variant has ever explained the stunt system better. #Superhero #Fantasy

#Systemmatters:As mentioned before, I'm not a fan of the hackneyed #Murderhobo adventure playstyle. #TheLairoftheLeopardEmpresses allows this style of play, but places a lot of emphasis on context building. To get "everything" out of your characters, there is hardly any way around joining a cult, guild or other organisation.
There were reasons for the developments in the late 80s, early 90s - even if some revisionists would like to turn back the clock.

Frankly, I didn‘t expect what #Mindjammer did to the system. This is a love letter to #TnT!
Beware : #TnT‘s combat is probably one of the most brutal on the market. Without creativity / ideas you will get killed by stronger antagonists / monsters! This book comtains the best explanation of the Stunt System I‘ve seen so far. Wow.

Any RPG book with 400 pages cannot help but look complicated on first glance. By contrast, the character sheet from The Lair of the Leopard Empresses is clear and reassuring. No clutter, but plenty of organised space.

Reading the PDF of Sarah Newton's latest. It's extremely well presented, clear layout, good use of colour and boxed texts avoiding clutter and confusion. Still, it's 400 pages long. Does any RPG need to be so long, especially one derived from Tunnels & Trolls, once the standard example of the short and simple game? With the current state of my brain post-covid this'll take a while to work through.

That said, the content looks terrific.

Another new Mythosesque RPG crawls into the light, using Ken St. Andre's Monsters! Monsters! rules: "Shub-Niggurath Always Rings Twice."

I know nothing about this one. It's the same publisher as the reprint of The Lovecraft Variant (which received some criticism for layout and presentation) but looks to be a completely original adventure with quickstart rules included.

Latest update from Steve Crompton and Ken St. Andre at Trollhalla Press inevitably talks about the current OGL discussion: looks like a number of publishers are going to be producing material for their (non-OGL) Monsters!Monsters! game now. Particularly exciting is the news that Sarah Newton will be putting out The Lair of the Leopard Empresses for it. Sarah kindly sent me a copy of the work in progress about 4 years ago, so I've been waiting a while!

Pinched this picture from Steve Crompton's latest update on Kickstarter. Now that #TunnelsAndTrolls is owned by a different (and seemingly indifferent) company, Ken St. Andre has been working with Steve on the #MonstersMonsters #RPG and is seen here holding print copies of some of the latest books in the line. Shipping costs and dwindling storage space mean I'm only getting PDFs these days, but it's great to see that the range is going well.
