Prepping for a decently hilly (500+ feet/mile for the first 3+ miles) and long run tomorrow to scout for an alternate 50k route from my house to Maverick's in Half Moon Bay. Depending on who you ask, there are some private trails off of the Scarper Trail. Visited this Montara Mountain manzanita on Monday morning. This beautiful species (*Arctostaphylos montaraensis*) can be encountered on sandstone ridges on Montara Mountain near Pacifica, as well as one grove on San Bruno Mountain.
I can't wait to come back in a month to see them flowering. Like most manzanitas they are pollinated by bumblebees and hummingbirds.
