For an event last night, I was tasked with developing a tasting for 30 people based on the #wine and #food in 'The Passenger', the latest from #CormacMcCarthy. To make it more amusing for me, budget worthy examples of the wines (the characters weren't drinking Barefoot) had to be paired with party versions of the food mentioned.

In a nod to McCarthy's residency in New Mexico, #champagne was replaced with Sauvage Blanc de Blancs from Gruet.

Not many parties have a budget for #Montrachet, nor do I, so Dominique Lafon Bourgogne Blanc stood in.

At different points, characters were drinking undisclosed Saint-Emilion and Beaujolais (specified as "not the Villages type"). I wanted a Cab Franc-dominant #Bordeaux and came up with Chateau Haut-Segottes. "Not Villages" to me meant Cru Beaujolais so repping #Beaujolais was the Julien Sunier Morgon.

It was a good event.
