Last week I had an opportunity to speak with Ben Carroll (Minister for Public Transport) and continue our conversation about fares for users of the new Keilor East (Keilor Park) station.
I have been seeking clarification from Mr. Carroll as to whether the fare will be a PT Zone 2 fare or if users will be required to purchase a more expensive Airport Rail ticket.
Mr. Carroll has advised that he is following this up with Jacinta Allen (Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop), and that he hopes to have the station accessible on a Zone 1 (PT) ticket.
Whilst I understand a final fare price can not be confirmed until closer to the station opening, the community should at least know if passengers will access the new station on a Public Transport Ticket, or a dearer Airport Rail Ticket.
I appreciate Mr. Carroll continuing to follow this up and I ensure the community that I will continue to seek an answer and keep you updated with any new information I receive.

On January 26, I had the opportunity to speak with Mayor of Moonee Valley Council Pierce Tyson, Cr. Rose Iser and Moonee Valley City Council CEO Helen Sui, about Indigenous healing and how we can be more sensitive to our First Nations people on January 26.
We also discussed a local project I have been wanting and proposing for several years and Mayor Tyson was gracious enough to invite me to send him my proposal, in the hope that he may be able to advocate for it on my behalf (watch this space). Both Cr. Iser and Ms. Sui were encouraged by my enthusiasm to create local change for indigenous peoples, and were incredibly supportive and enthusiastic.
I also had an opportunity to speak with Niddrie Greens candidate Declan McGinness, where we discussed how collaboration not politics, will see the most positive changes for our communities come to fruition.
I thank all of these wonderful people for their warm hospitality and genuine care in what I had to say.

The news you have been wanting to hear. I have finally got an answer for you all regarding fares for users of the new East Keilor/Keilor Park/Airport West station..
FARES WILL BE AT PUBLIC TRANSPORT RATES!
Minister Jacinta Allen has advised:
"While fares to the airport on Melbourne Airport Rail are expected to be comparable to other airport services across Australia, stations along the route not traveling to the airport will be in line with the existing metropolitan / regional fare structures."
I have attached the letter in full for your consideration. Thank you to everyone who supported me in my campaign for community transparency. I have replied to Minister Allen with my message of thanks for providing me with this information.
Also, thank you to Minister Ben Carroll MP for forwarding my email to Minister Allen.

Last week, I finally received the below response from Ben Carroll (MP), regarding my enquiry relating to access to the new East Keilor (Keilor Park) train station, that was sent 4 weeks earlier.
I find the response inadequate given that I am asking for a commitment that the station will be accessible on the public transport network & not exclusively on the new Airport Rail Link, not about the cost of the ticket itself.
As such, this morning I sent a reply & CC:'d Jacinta Allan (MP), which is also included below.

With a lot of contentious issues being discussed recently, I thought I would open up a forum to discuss these issues respectfully and without bullying.
This will be an opportunity for the community to have their say, in a safe space, regardless of what side of the issue they are on; because for me, it is important to listen to and hear the thoughts of all the community - not just those who share my opinion.
What would you like to discuss for in my first #TopicTuesday?
