#MooseFire22 #Mudslides

The Salmon River road downriver from Salmon is a mess tonight. Currently people are trapped downriver by the mudslides, boulders and debris (from the #MooseFire '22 burn scar) blocking the road. The forest service has dispatched equipment tonight to begin digging out the road.

I'm on vacation, so not really connected. But I'm hearing reports (from trusted sources) that the #MooseFire from last year has over-wintered. Smouldering/burning stump(s) located in the burn area.
Not surprising given the size of the fire. The infamous Clear Creak fire 2000 a few ridges over also over-wintered and fire crews were dispatched to mop up a spot after the snow melted (My dad called that one in).

Went downriver for the first time since the #MooseFire, stopped at the Chinook #crash site. I took this photo standing in the exact spot (old Indy helibase pads) where I often got in helicopters back in the day when working for the USFS, a thought that wasn't lost on me.

#RIP to the two pilots who lost their lives that day while fighting a human caused fire. And to Jeff & Shane whose Bronze Statues stand a few yards behind me at the Cramer Fire memorial.
