Seattle's #MoPOP just got a big donation of items from the estate of Paul Allen, including a number of neat SF/F artifacts. As part of this #SeattleTimes article, our own chair for #NWC46, SunnyJim Morgan, was quoted! Check it out, and look for the new additions on future visits to MoPOP!

Zusammenfassend ist das MoPOP eine riesige Anhäufung von Requisiten und Informationsschnipseln. Es ist unterhaltsam, größtenteils familienfreundlich und laut.

Nach 4 Stunden Beschallung brauchten wir erstmal ne kleine Medienpause. Das Pinball-Museum haben wir auf morgen verschoben.

MiST: morgen hat das Flippermuseum gar nicht auf. Manchmal verpasst man was 😞

Im zweiten Stock des MoPOP dreht sich alles um Musik. Es gibt u.a eine Ausstellung über legendäre Gitarren der Rockgeschichte, einen Nirvana Raum und einen nachgebildeten Konzertsaal.

Um 10 Uhr ging es dann weiter ins MoPOP. Das Museum für Popkultur hat eine Hall of Fame mit allerlei kunstschaffenden Größen. Dabei sind Buchautoren, Filmemacher, Musiker aber auch Mangazeichner.

Hier sind auch schon einige Filmrequisiten aus bekannten Hollywood-Blockbustern ausgestellt wie z.b. die Jacke von Hellen Ripley aus Alien oder das Lichtschwert von Luke Skywalker inkl. abgeschlagener Hand.

A new Laika studio exhibit opened at MoPop in Seattle, and it’s wonderful. Seeing many of the stop-motion animation models in person was a delight. Lots of behind the scenes on how they make their movies… especially impressive if you’re into 3D printing at all, since that’s revolutionized the art form. And yes, that’s the 16-for-tall skeleton from Kubo and the Two Strings
