Here’s a rough estimate of how many people recent #SCOTUS rulings might #kill
The three decisions included: one from January 13, 2022, that invalidated some #COVID19 workplace protections; one on June 23, 2022, that voided some state laws restricting #handgun carry; and one on June 24, 2022, that revoked the constitutional right to abortion (Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization). In addition to #deaths, decisions will lead to significant #morbidity.

Sickle cell trait (SCT) is an adverse prognostic factor for COVID-19 #JAMA
N= 132k. People of #African ancestry are at high risk for COVID-related #death and #morbidity. This study found pts w SCT had 77% higher odds of #COVID19 mortality & 20% of fatalities were predicted by more acute kidney failure.
#SickleCell must be on the list of bad outcome predictors in COVID.
