Last night I heard a Ruru in our trees. This is the third one I have heard on our property in 2 decades.

Both my partner and I grew up in Akatarawa where Ruru were very common.

It was fantastic to hear it.

Central Hawkes Bay is so open and has no tree corridors so we don't get a lot of larger native bird life in the towns.
