Very few pastors these days address the events that led up to Jerusalem’s occupation by Rome or the role the Pharisees played within their own society as oppressors. Instead, they paint a narrow picture of Christ’s return and tritely focus on passages like John 3:16. They soft-sell Christ’s teachings and suggest that simply believing in Christ or professing yourself to be a Christian affords you eternal life.

was conversing with some community of christ members this morning. the church sends out a scripture based message every day that we go over it together.

sometimes we don't even get to it and discuss something else.

i brought up that I and some other progressive #LatterDaySaints believe and interpret from the D&C that Emma was ordained and had all the keys to the Priesthood. and a lot of them were like "yes, she had the keys and was ordained."

i stand by that, and propagate it.

like please don't choke out your sister churches. we are hardly rivals & should be friendly and ecumenical. you're already the biggest, richest and the most well known, so therefore set the tone for perceptions of the rest of us. we smaller branches of the Restoration too have special gifts of the Spirit, and we have much more to gain by learning from each other

i encourage members to attend ecumenical #LatterDaySaint / #Mormonism groups and be respectful and open to different POVs

opportunity presented to me to attend a church of jesus christ (bickertonite) service online. was talking to a #bickertonite elder last night and learning about their church, beliefs, and expressions of worshiping God. they are very pentecostal. interesting! pentecostal latter day saints (guess that makes me a methodist episcopal #LatterDaySaint . i think i will attend.

I believe that God is with us. And God is bigger than #Mormonism, bigger than #Christianity, bigger than Abrahamic faith. None of us may claim exclusive or preferential access Divine Inspiration. And I am so thankful for that. I am blessed by learning from others and sharing myself with them.

These things are very significant to my faith and how I connect with God in my life.

I thank God for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and for the Inspiration God bestows upon us. I thank God for Continuous Revelation.

God is the same in the Past, Now, and Forever. Therefore God speaks to us as They did in the days of old. The Heavens are Open, we just have to be open to listen.

so that's how we do it. we build bridges, invite others into community (and to Christ if they are so seeking). we share our resources, and give (i like to consider it a form of tithing) of our time, talents, and money to the betterment of others, especially those who are oppressed and disadvantaged.

i could talk about Zion all day. it's a large part of what i believe and my calling. i think we are all called to build peaceable and equitable communities, #mormon or not.

Community of Christ has a specific call to build Zionic communities. I want Saints as a whole to know that Zion can be where ever we are.. In the CoC Inspired Version of the Bible (Genesis 7:23) and the tCoJCoL-dS Book of Moses 7:18 says:

"And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them."

oh and how did i forget.

Prophet Joseph Smith Jr instructed us to eat fruits and vegetables that are in season. so we should shop local if possible and pick in season things. I could do better about this. it's just very convenient to buy frozen. I could try to do better with my choices of fruit through out the year.

there is also something special about communion with homemade wine. maybe i will ask my pastor if i can provide it for my congregation.
