On my livestreams I was getting asked how to build and install custom MorseRunner callsign database files. Made a little tutorial with the Top 500 Hunters. Database file is also available for download.

Of note, I've tossed any sort of Farnsworth spacing from my practice. I went through a period where I didn't have enough mental buffer to translate the characters, but I'm much closer to instant recognition now. Morse Runner and POTA activations seem to have helped. I think I got bored and needed a challenge to continue making progress.

I think extra spacing is valuable when learning, but I don't want to rely on it anymore. YMMV.

OK, so is kind of fun now that I get how it works a little better. I should practice buffering characters in my head, though--hear the whole callsign, then type it in.

Went from 36 to 60 QSOs per hour in two 10-minute sessions, sending at 13 wpm.

I've been practicing hard with Morse Runner on the Field Day setting the last few days and I want to brag that I just did a 15 minute session at 23wpm with 26 contacts, no mistakes for 108 qso/hr. I doubt I could do that in the real world but since I've never run a frequency at any Field Day I feel like I might be ready to give it a go. Has anyone else noticed that going from 22wpm to 23wpm somehow makes a world of difference?
