This week The Horror Guru & Count Jackula review

A summer camp slasher film that's also an 80's throwback flick!

The Last Voyage of the Demeter

One of those movies that look and feel like a very long video game cutscene. Bad acting, bad script, but some very nice gore.

But what canโ€™t be forgiven is that Dracula looks like a Skyrim monster reject.

Like 2020โ€™s excellent The Invisible Man, Birth/Rebirth makes an old monster relevant by viewing it from a woman's perspective.ย  Recommended.

Watched Framed (1930). Really fun twisty prohibition flick that has a lot of things to like in the characters. Brent does a great job delivering some stellar lines including โ€œyouโ€™re not in love with me; youโ€™re in love with the girl you think I amโ€

Itโ€™s so short that a lot of the twists arenโ€™t unpredictable but the movie still has space to breathe and the pacing is really well done for the time.
H/t to @TSPOE_pods
for the rec.

The Apartment (1960)

This film's reputation is huge and it is well deserved. You could watch just for all the charm Jack Lemmon and Shirley McClane bring to the picture. And you should. You could watch for the surprisingly relevant plot in the post era. But you'll want to watch to see Fred 'My Three Sons' MacMurray in his only villain role of his career and marvel on how that's a shame.
