You know - the process of buying a house in the UK is so messed up I don't even know where to start.

So many people involved in the 'process' (and I use that terms very very lightly) all taking their fee but basically doing next to bugger all for it.

I'd say that 90% of the stress of moving house is caused by these people not doing their job or doing it badly.

Been a funny old day today. A 3-hour editing stint first thing, knocking off all those highlights mentioned in previous posts. Reached Chapter 9, so I'm exactly a third of the way through. Had to get the work in early, so I could be settled in front of the telly in time for the morning session of the World Snooker Championship.

Then had to return to my desk after a flurry of emails from the conveyancing solicitor. Questions from the buyer, contract pack documents to review, appointments to be made to sign said documents in advance of the Exchange of Contracts stage. Thank heavens for the "rewind live TV" feature, or we'd've missed most of the second session.

Proposed completion date is looking like 2-6 weeks after our return from Greece, so we need to up the pace of preparation. Almost certainly will have to forgo editing tomorrow in favour of cabinet disassembly and trips to the tip. Shit's getting real.

Well, that was my first crap night sleep as I was stressed about moving. 9 weeks to pack the 4 bedroom + games room house into a garage space and 3 x 35kg suitcases, on top of sorting the new IB chem curriculum. Just got to make a list and do them.

Had a very charitable evening so far.
2 families turned up to take some furniture we no longer want.
A bed and 2 sofas.
Hysterical watching them get them into their respective people movers. But, all credit to them, they managed it.
Well, I suppose they would, seeing as they were free!!

Starting to feel more functional again! Took a break last night from moving more stuff to just relax a bit, have a gin and put up some of my art. That helped a lot!

Tonight I'll do some more unpacking, then perhaps back to the house Friday to pick up a few remaining boxes. Then the last of the furniture in the van we get it Easter weekend 🙇🏻‍♀️

Strong regret for not booking today of work. Tired from packing and moving boxes all weekend, plus the clocks change has not helped! 😒

I would rather spend the day trying to tidy things away, and putting up my pictures!

We're currently in referencing for a house we love that's 20 minutes from work instead of 2 hours. Everything should be fine at this point as we've already told them everything that they're checking and they were fine with everything, including my rats which put a lot of landlords off. We applied for a house to rent yesterday near my new job. Although the landlord seems happy to have us, the application process still makes me nervous. Also, moving is stressful. I love the house though, and I'm excited for our future there. Fingers crossed!

#MovingHouse Two out of two! Got the wheelie bin out at the right time for the second week in the new house. How long can I keep this up?

@thomasbeagle eight hours of lifting heavy and or awkward things (while wearing an N95) later, I’ve definitely had a workout. The inside of my mask is sufficiently manky that it’s getting binned as soon as I can stand again…

I’ve told the new homeowners that they’re not allowed to move again for at least ten years. I will probably have forgotten this experience by then.

En route I realised I had forgotten my mask. No worries, there’ll be a pharmacy in Tawa, right? Well, yes, but it was closed due to staff sickness (that note was next to a sign saying please wear a mask because of COVID spikes in Tawa; not definitely related, but I inferred they might be)

Managed to get a couple of masks from the people moving.

I don’t think this thing is done yet.
