Red letter day today! Installed the X-axis gantry on the CNC2 - and everything fit! All the black "stuff" other than steppers and cable track is all 3d printed in carbon fibre PETG. I figure between using it and what I have learned about 3d printing over a couple of years my parts on this one are probably double the strength of the ones on my original CNC in the background. Z axis to go - and wiring, electronics, programming, etc, sigh.

Finally got my original CNC dialed in for Aluminum. 1/4' two flute carbide 0.5mm cut, 200mm/min works great. No smearing, material stays cool. Working on the X to Y axis plates for my CNC2 build. #CNC #maker #machining #linuxcnc #mpcnc

First post, gonna make it an #introductions one.

I'm Alex, currently a Product Manager at Stratasys working on their software platform. I've worked in some way with #CAD / #CAM systems since 2010 and #3dprinting particularly since 2013.

My hobbies include #3dprinting , #LaserCutting , #CAD , #paintingminis , #electronics , spending time with my 3 boys and generally pottering about, all of which I'm likely to post about at one time or another.

My dad-shed / workshop where I both work and hobby is just south of Bordeaux, France and thanks to these hobbies has:
- A Prusa Mk3s
- A decommissioned MP Select Mini
- An #MPCNC
- with laser diode for laser cutting
- Router for milling
- Bunch of basic #metalworking and #woodworking tools
- The necessaries for basic #electronics

One of my back-burnered projects. I'm building a #CNC rotary #Carving and #Laser #Engraver. The design is called the #MPCNC. The plastic parts are #3Dprinted.

my lastest project has been an #mpcnc which has taken me several weeks to build. I particularly enjoyed building the electronics box, which allowed me to do some #soldering, #iot and some #woodwork. The best part is that it's almost 100% made out of stuff I had lying around. Even the table is made out of reclaimed wood. Total spend maybe NZ$250.
