I am sure #MPING has a way to filter out bad data—things like this red triangle which indicates wind damage (homes/buildings completely destroyed)
We appreciate all the weather reports so far - they are extremely helpful to us! Another great way to relay snow reports to us is through the #mPing app.

@BrandonWholey: I’m at the Tulsa National Weather Service office this morning working on a story for tonight.
I talked to the team there on how an app helped all of us meteorologists and the public this week tell between different precipitation types. 🌧️⚡️🌨️ #2News #OkWx #mping @NWStulsa https://twitter.com/BrandonWholey/status/1621199044235169797

The weather is going to remain active over the next week, with chances for more thunderstorms Friday into the weekend. A fun way to relay any reports of hail, flooding, rain, wind damage to us is through the app #mPing. These reports come directly to us and are very helpful!

Like to help you local weather offices with local reports?
You should take a look at mPING, which has apps for both iPhone and Android.
You can report weather hazards in your area, and see other's reports mapped as well

If you are not using #mPING (https://mping.ou.edu/) to report #snow #freezingrain and such and to look at #weather, you should consider it.

It's snowing. I'm thinking I should get some sleep.
I think I'm too tired to go out and measure safely. Sorry. ={
Today's weather situation is complex and radar/models can't always see what's hitting the ground. Help the weather community by downloading and using the #mPING app. Here are the last couple hours of reports: #pawx #njwx https://mping.ou.edu/display/
Oh! It's raining! Better tell #mPING!
And you should, too. Meteorologists love the data you submit.

Hey, folks, are you aware you can help #NOAA confirm and improve radar data by contributing to the #mPING project at OU? You submit your observations which are matched to NOAA data.

The progressive degradation in thebirdsite's usability to help with "citizens' band" type organization in a timely manner (Think out and beyond massive intensive movements like the Cajun Navy to include things akin to local community weather monitoring & citizen_science reporting. Yay NWS #mPing, at least...) hasn't escaped me.
While not perfect (scammers gonna scam), it's been part of the functionality for the ad hoc level efforts for years, and not just in the US.
Coupled with the demise of community infrastructure services like EMS & Fire Depts such as what's happening in rural (smaller) communities around here, I'm wondering how the new digital landscape is going to bolster &|| hinder these sorts of efforts.
Right now, I'm having some concerns for some regions.
the #fediverse has the potential to fill some of that gap, but it's going to take time and there's a bunch of other issues before that point, afaict.
