@NE_Purple_Mom I think public housing has a role, not massive though. I like the scattered site stuff MPHA is doing in Mpls right now. Building new housing - market rate and affordable is the best way to preserve NOAH and keep rent down. Rent Control has been shown repeatedly to stifle new construction and cause disinvestment. its bad policy. #Mpls2040 is leading to some increased multi-fam developments which is good.
In the past election, Minneapolis saw historic city council victories: electing two black trans representatives, and a very progressive new council majority. Now, Ward 13, largely opposed to #mpls2040, is concerned about representation (thread)

Diluting representation for low-turnout parts of the city means redistributing power from people of color to white people.

Well well well, it's the #TriplexesEverywhere legislation. Bookmark this and refresh every day. #mpls2040

Is it too late to propose some changes to #mpls2040?
RT @beyondchron@twitter.com
First, Minneapolis advocates legalized citywide triplexes. Now Austin's @GregCasar@twitter.com's "Affordability Unlocked" proposal legalizes six-unit, three-story apartments citywide so long as 50% are affordable. There's a lot that needs to happen for the city to achieve the goals in the comp plan, but we benefit from all this coverage as a way of keeping our electeds accountable in the years to come. #mpls2040
Give this team some of your praise too! #mpls2040
RT @worthington6121@twitter.com A great big THANK YOU to the best planning staff in local government! Minneapolis CPED Long Range Planning! And to the City Council for voting 12-1 to forward the document to the Met Council for review.

Weird how the "environmental impact" lawsuit going on right now is aimed against policy guidelines (that will help when actual policy happens) instead companies and systems in the state actually producing negative impacts today. #mpls2040
This piece is naming & shaming the "single-family zoning evangelists" who support these policies. Meanwhile in Minneapolis, we're attempting to put an end to this. Anyone surprised that the people behind the last minute lawsuit to block #mpls2040 benefit from this rigged system?
The harm may be intangible, but this lawsuit is a great exercise in climate denialism. While California burns, wealthy Southwest Minneapolis residents file a lawsuit seeking personal validation that their preferred anti-urban pro-sprawl policies are good for the planet. #mpls2040
Southwest Minneapolis is going to need one additional #mpls2040 public hearing just to respond to this LTE from a Linden Hills resident on admitting racism.

We freed some data from the confines of the PDF released on Monday, which contained non-final land use amendments. Making it available now to anyone who would like to do their own analysis. #mpls2040
RT @evanrobertsnz@twitter.com It was depressing watching the Minneapolis City Council mostly strengthen their good words in #mpls2040 about equity and climate change, and then mostly take it all back with specific proposals that very little should change in more areas of the city.

This tweet is still bouncing around in my head.
RT @KMo_Mpls@twitter.com I may or may not have left my neighborhood comp plan meeting by sarcastically telling an older gentleman to enjoy retirement because I never will #mpls2040 #boomers

RT @happifydesign@twitter.com We need a post-#NCA4 amendment to #Mpls2040 calling for everything to double immediately and a ban on the construction of single family homes/housing under a certain density/acre. That SFH are still allowed? That our population permitted is still capped so low? At 411ppm? WTAF.

Cam Gordon is suggesting the addition of a policy on Freeway Remediation for #mpls2040, naming the racist history of highways, and large amounts of land that could be reclaimed.
π Major praise to @moreneighbors@twitter.com volunteers, and so many others. Also have to recognize the other orgs in town working for positive change: @OurStreetsMpls@twitter.com @SEIUHCMN@twitter.com @SierraClubMN@twitter.com @MN_350@twitter.com. #mpls2040
This is why it's important to keep talking about this in the context of #mpls2040 and land use and infrastructure in general. When people say this key topic is "divisive" they're really saying they're "fine with the status quo".

Just ICYMI, the southwesterners asking last night to "try it in some nbrhds first and see if it works" are asking to drop all development pressure in one place. That's not gonna be good for anyone there or anywhere, and will likely be areas with least power to resist. #mpls2040
If your metric for engagement was "they didn't send a postcard to the whole city like they did with composting", make sure you've read this in full: https://minneapolis2040.com/planning-process/ #mpls2040
